Simon Cowells Music Nightmares

Simon Cowells Music Nightmares

If you are a keen viewer of The X Factor you would be under the impression that the head judge Simon Cowell knows his game and that any act he touches turns to gold and the way that he puts down acts with little or no talent that the pop mogul would ever consider releasing sub par material just to gain instant sales and make a quick buck. If you believe the above then look away now as we dig into the archives of Simon Cowell’s past achievements and look at some of the music nightmares he has had a hand in releasing.

Zig and Zag

The puppets made famous from Channel 4’s Big Breakfast show may not have seen as obvious chart material but even before their arrival in England they had scored a number 1 single in Ireland so Simon Cowell knew that they had potential and the puppets released 2 singles with Cowell’s RCA label first of was “Them Girls Them Girls” which reached number 5 and the following up single “Hands Up” saw them teamed up with Rednex

Robson and Jerome

The actors Robson Green and Jerome Flynn had become known for their roles as Dave Tucker and Paddy Garvey respectively and during one of the shows episodes they performed the song “Unchained Melody” in an episode. Simon Cowell instantly saw the potential to release the song as a single which they did and stayed at number 1 for a whopping 7 weeks. He then persuaded the duo to also record an album; this proved an instant success selling over 1 million copies, a follow up was soon released also selling in vast quantities and going to number in the album charts as Grannies up and down the country lapped it up.

Teletubbies

Perhaps one of Simon Cowell’s most artistically challenged releases the stars of the popular BBC Children’s show released their single Teletubbies say "Eh-oh!", the song was however a commercial success staying at number 1 for 2 weeks and managing to stay in the top 75 for 29 weeks and in doing so sold over a million copies in the process.
